New Student Info
We’re so excited that your child will be joining AHES! Below is some info for getting them settled at the beginning of the school year.
TK & Kindergarten Orientation
We hold an orientation for TK & Kindergarten families before the first day of school so that the students can meet their teachers and familiarize themselves with their classroom and campus. There will be an in-person session in the afternoon and an online session in the evening. Exact dates and times will be shared via email by the principal in the weeks leading up to the first day of school.
AHES Spirit Wear
At AHES, we love to show our Panther Pride! Spirit Wear will be on sale at the beginning of the school year. Students, staff and families are encouraged to wear their Spirit Wear every Friday to show their Panther Pride. Samples will be available at TK & Kindergarten Orientation and Back to School Night. We have specially designed shirts for the TK & Kinder students to wear on the first day of school and on Fridays for Spirit Day. TK & Kinder students will receive their shirts at orientation.
GroupMe App
While the main channel of communication from the PTA is this website and the weekly PTA newsletter, GroupMe has become the unofficial app for communication between parents. There is generally a group for each grade level, and sometimes parents will create groups for their child’s classroom. The Room Parents tend to post updates and reminders about what is happening at the school, so it is a great way to stay informed and build connections with the other parents. The app is free to download, has no ads, and is free to sign up. To see if your grade level or class is on GroupMe, please reach out to your room parent. Again, this is not an official PTA program and it is completely voluntary whether you sign up or not.
1st Day for TK & Kinder Students
Please plan on parking your car in a designated parking spot and walking your students to the TK & Kinder gate. Do not park in the curbside drop off area. Once at the gate, let them enter to join their classmates on their own. The New Student Orientation will help ensure their understanding of the procedure and familiarity with the space. For more info on parking, check out the Drop off and Pick up Procedures. Please bring their school supplies with them on their first day of school. Large bins will be placed outside the office for items that are too large or heavy for students to carry in. Please mark items in a bag with the teacher’s name and grade level when dropping off.
1st Day for 1st - 6th Grade Students
If you would like to walk your child to the gate, please park your car in a designated parking spot. Do not park in the curbside drop off area. Once at the gate, let them enter to join their classmates on their own. Parents will not be permitted beyond the gate. For more info on parking, check out the Drop off and Pick up Procedures. Please bring their school supplies with them on their first day of school. Large bins will be placed outside the office for items that are too large or heavy for students to carry in. Please mark items in a bag with the teacher’s name and grade level when dropping off.
Electronic Devices
Students have access to school phones to contact parents. Parents must complete a form for the office for their child to have a mobile phone at school. Students who have attained approval will keep phones in the off position, in their backpacks and not take them out during school hours. Use mobile phones outside of school gates to contact parents only. Mobile phones will be confiscated from students not following these rules. Parents can pick-up their child’s phone after school in the office.
