AHES Robotics Team prove to be PAWSitively amazing!
Congratulations to our 3 amazing AHES Robotics teams who competed for their first time! The AHES VEX Robotics students competed against 24 schools at the Orange Unified School District Robotics Championship held at Santiago Canyon College on Friday, March 18th.
This year they competed in the VEX IQ Highrise Challenge which was played on a 4 x 8 foot field. Teams scored points by having the robot they created move blocks from the starting position to the scoring zone. There were 2 different challenges (the Teamwork Challenge and Robot Skills Challenge). In the Teamwork Challenge the AHES team worked together with another school to maximize their score. Both schools received the same points. The Robot Skills Challenge is where students have the opportunity to score as many points possible as an individual team.
The 3 AHES Robotics Teams have been working hard together since November in preparation for this event. 3 out of 7 awards at the OUSD Robotics Championship were given to AHES! We placed 2nd in the Teamwork Challenge! We also placed 1st and 3rd in the Robot Skills Challenge! Thank you to all the parents and AHES students who came out to support and cheer on our teams. We also want to thank our PTA for sponsoring our Robotics teams. Thank you to Mrs. Nevin, Steve Ho, and Raquel Archung for leading the Robotics teams. A HUGE CONGRATS to the students who participated and gained valuable teamwork and problem-solving experience!!!
